    Japanese chat filter

How do I go about setting up a language filter in Japanese? Is this simply a matter of editing the existing filter file (where ever that is), or would I need to create a new plug-in to do this?

I think you need to edit the configuration.xml doc. if you are only going to use 1 language. If you are going to offer several languages I think you would need to write a plugin to convert the standard language on the fly based on user choice

Dave is mostly correct. You need to edit the configuration.xml file to configure the language filter. The trick is that you CAN set it up to support multiple languages but they MIGHT conflict with each other. By this I mean that if one language has a vulgar word of "toast" but it's an acceptable word in English then you might run into trouble. I know that some vulgar words in English are NOT vulgar in Dutch for instance.

If you run into any technical issues with puttle Unicode characters in the XML file, please let me know via email and Jobe and I can get that fixed for the upcoming 3.6 release. Thanks!

I'm actually trying to convert this to Japanese as the only input language (using japanese characters, of course) so in addition to editing the config file I'll also reconfiguring the text boxes to accept the japanese characters.

    Thanks for your help.
