    ES4 Wiki will be vanishing

Later this month the ES4 Wiki will vanish. Please post here telling me which pages you really need to have available as reference, and I'll add them to the forum FAQ section. I have exported the wiki as HTML and can post that as a zip file if there is a need for that, but it's not easy to navigate.

The most commonly used information from the wiki is available in the ES5 manual, however it is the ES5 version, not the ES4 version.

I'll miss it too. It is mighty handy to have all the ES5 stuff in the manual though, putting it in one place.

Why don't you just extend the wiki to be the ES4 and ES5 wiki? (Or create an ES4 manual from the material on the wiki in the style of the existing ES5 one?)

    daperson1,

We decided to do away with the ES4 wiki for a number of reasons. Primarily though it was for access of information. We received a lot of complaints that things weren't documented when in fact they were heavily documented. When asked further it seemed that many users just didn't realize the wiki existed even though we had it linked to in a lot of places. In addition, we found that we had to replicate information between the wiki and the manual. And wikis are generally better when you have a community that will help add to it. So in the end we decided that maintaining a single source of documentation that was easily located on our site was the way to go.

I am not sure, but Teresa *might* be creating an ES4 section that contains some of the ES4 wiki info.

I thought that the wiki would have disappeared already. It's still there, so I don't know when it will vanish. Any of the pages of the wiki that you think are important info not available in the ES5 manual, let me know and I'll add them to the forum FAQ.

You may have noticed that the wiki hasn't vanished yet. We are keeping it until December 2011. If you aren't going to migrate to ES5 and do tend to need to refer to wiki pages, let me know which pages you need and I'll make sure we put that info where it will be available after the wiki poofs.

This is a reminder that the ES4 wiki is highly likely to vanish (finally) later this month. If there is info on that wiki that you like to refer to, TELL ME so that I can make it into a forum FAQ or part of the ES5 manual.
