I've never had this problem before....but now my electroserver dies out before it's started! I click to run the .exe, and the command prompt window closes out before 'electroserver is running properly' message is displayed! It won't let me start it up, and I can't figure out what's going wrong....can anyone help here?!?!?!?!?! It's an emergency!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks,

Hello redeye,
I've similiar problem before and it was caused by virus (I had antivirus installed but that was new version not included in automatic updates).
Can You first check:
#1
- virus occurence
#2
- firewall settings
# 3
- java integrity (just type java in command prompt),
# 4
- check logs files located in "logs' subfolder where You ES is installed
# 5
- copy all additional/changed files from ES installation folder and re-install ES
hth,
regards,
Peter

Hi, peterblaze, what am I looking for as far as the log files are concerned? They are all blank, and I have a couple of .lck files there as well...

Hi Redeye,
what am I looking for as far as the log files are concerned? They are all blank, and I have a couple of .lck files there as well...
So leave that option apart. Becouse You don't find answer in blank (empty) logs,
Additionally You may first check (if You are on Windows) if ES is not running in background as a system service,

Peter

With the 3.5+ versions of Electroserver, the Java runtime is already included on all Windows installers. We did this because incorrectly installed or missing Java runtime was our single most common issue. With that said, if you are not getting any log files, it will be because the error is killing the server before the logs have finished initializing. I plan on fixing this soon as it's quite annoying. I will simply move the log initialization up to the very first step. To see what the actual error message is simply run the StartElectroServer.exe program from a command prompt. This will display the output and not close the window. You can also create a batch file with two lines in it:
StartElectroServer.exe
pause
and then run it from within Windows. This will open the new window and then you can see the message without it closing. Go ahead and run it then let us know what the problem is. Thanks!

Hi, again,
I ran electroserver from the command prompt, and what was happening was there was an error in one of my plugins....I think I was using reserved words as variables......anyway, when compiling the plugins, it shut down the JVM. I'm attaching a screenshot of the prompt window error. I changed the actionscript, and everything works fine.
Thanks for your help in troubleshooting, guys!

I'm working on an update to the server (hopefully tonight) and I'll see if I can modify it in such a way to make these bugs easier to figure out. Thanks!
