I know it's not directly related to ES but if your building games and creating level editors now you can produce standalone exe/projectors for windows and macs that can save/load data to a file. The only down side is you still have to wrap the swf on a pc - oh well you can't have everything.

That's program we use for all of our games!

what does it do for creating games other than the publish an exe file?

There aren't all that many game specific features. Its mostly that it will let you modify your SWF so much that the end result is a real Windows/Mac application. YOu can gain tons of control over the window. Save/write files, go full screen, change icons, over 400 different fscommands.
