View Full Version : [Solved] Extensions refuse to appear
Hello there community!
I recently spotted ES5 while surfing around the web and as I develop Unity games it drew my attention. I decided to make it my weekend project and downloaded what I needed.
I have however encountered a problem which I could use some help on.
As the title mentions: I can't see extensions in the server-manager.
I've been through the video on installing extensions (very helpful, thank you!) and followed the instructions.
If I add the extension manually it doesn't appear in the Server Extensions drop-down menu and if I add them through the .zip-method they don't even appear in the folder.
Any and all answers are appreaciated. Thank you in advance!

Myx,
You probably know this, but just to be sure - make sure you restart ES after adding an extension.
Teresa will probably step in to help out (I'm leaving town in about an hour). But it occurs to me that another possible issue is the extension itself. Where did you get the extension? With ES5.01 the example extensions provided are not yet compiled. With the next release of ES (soon) we'll be providing pre-compiled example extensions so that they can just be used as-is.
If you were downloading any of the game examples individually from our examples page, those might already have the extensions compiled...I'm not sure. Teresa?
Thanks for the quick answer!
The extension in question is from the provided example of the RealtimeTankGame.
Since the file in the lib folder was a .jar I presumed it would be fine, do I have to recompile the provided source code?

If you are running ES5.0.1 then you can get a "just drop it in" extension for Tank Game from this zip file (http://www.electrotank.com/docs/es5/zips/RealtimeTankGame.zip) (which includes the source code). Unless your ES5 is running remotely from your ES Admin, it's simplest to just paste the folder for the extension into your server/extensions folder. In the zip file, this will be in the dist/ext folder. After pasting, restart ES5, and if you still don't see the extension listed in the drop down, close your ES Admin and then open it again.
Hmm. Well this time I got an error-message.
faultCode:Server.Error.Request faultString:'HTTP request error' faultDetail:'Error: [IOErrorEvent type="ioError" bubbles=false cancelable=false eventPhase=2 text="Error #2032" errorID=2032]. URL: http://localhost:8080/jmx/read/com.electrotank.electroserver:type=ElectroServer.A dministration.Extensions/Extensions'
Aha, I forgot to remove the other version. Right.
The extensions have finally appeared.
Thanks alot!
