Electrotank and Versant announced today that the two companies will deliver a joint presentation at the Qcon conference in New York next week on how Java-based server technology and NoSQL data technologies can be used to tackle the big data challenges facing online gaming. The session entitled "Can Java Still Be Sexy? noSQL says YES!" will be presented on Tuesday, June 19 at 4:50 pm at Qcon by Versant's VP of Technology Robert Greene and Electrotank's Director of Platform Engineering R.J. Lorimer.
The session will explore how Electrotank is employing Versant's new JPA for NoSQL solution to increase the persistence, performance and scalability of the Electrotank Universe Platform (EUP), a Java-based client-server development framework that provides scalable and extensible architecture, systems and tools for creating content-rich data-driven MMOs, virtual worlds, social games, and serious games for browsers and mobile devices.
