Often one of the first questions people ask about ElectroServer is, "How many concurrent players can it support?" To answer that question, we recently performed a series of load tests covering a variety of application types. All of the tests were run against a single game server provided by our friends at Softlayer Technologies (industry standard x86 machines, 24-core 4 x 6 CPU). We took pains to ensure that the tests were as "real world" as possible, which included writing detailed game logic and simulations for the server to validate. The results? ElectroServer demonstrated that it can support 330,000 concurrent users (CCU) in a turn-based game, 200,000 CCU in a casual MMO game, and 6,500 CCU in a first-person shooter. To learn more about our methodology and results, read our white paper. You can also see what Softlayer is saying about the tests on their blog. |
